Use extreme caution when undertaking any activities (including construction or excavation) near pipelines and always call before you dig.

In Canada

Most Canadian provinces have a Call Before You Dig program or one-call system. These call systems are there for anyone who plans on disturbing the ground near pipelines — the call operators will help locate buried pipelines prior to any digging, usually within 48 to 72 hours of making the call. The one-call centre will notify the pipeline company so they can mark their pipelines to prevent any damage and risk to public safety.
