Liquefied Petroleum Gas Operations

Plains’ NGL and LPG infrastructure includes numerous terminals, storage assets, fractionation and gas liquids processing plants strategically located across the United States and Canada. The useable storage capacity of the company’s NGL and LPG assets is approximately 22 million barrels.

Plains Midstream also owns and operates 23 storage facilities, 18 rail terminals, 8 fractionation facilities, 6 pipeline terminals, 4 straddle plants and 2 gas processing plants. With its strategically located assets combined with Plains' strong marketing presence in the major LPG storage and trading centres, allow the flexibility to provide the energy product solutions that customers require.

Our existing infrastructure is designed to support our LPG marketing activities. These activities include:

  • purchasing LPG products (including: propane, butane, natural gasoline, ethanol, naphtha, pentane, and aromatics) in bulk at major pipeline terminal points and storage locations;
  • transporting the LPG via common carrier pipelines, railcars and trucks to our own terminals and third party facilities for subsequent resale to wholesale customers; and
  • exchanging product to other locations to meet contract delivery requirements.
