Manager, Commercial Pipelines

Plains is seeking a Manger to lead our Commercial Pipeline department. While reporting to the Director, Commercial Pipeline Development & Logistics, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Plains current pipeline business while evaluating opportunities for strategic growth, maximizing our return on assets and ensuring we are properly positioned to respond to future opportunities within the market.  This position provides the opportunity to interact with senior management, lead negotiations with external customers and strategically influence revenue decisions the Company makes. This position will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Improving financial performance of Plains pipeline assets;

  • Developing and leveraging relationships with new and/or existing customers and other key industry representatives;

  • Identifying prospects, helping lead negotiations and preparing agreements with potential customers and other counterparties;

  • Developing and marketing opportunities to producers/shippers;

  • Identifying, developing, analyzing and executing commercial focused projects within the existing Plains footprint;

  • Providing guidance, coordination and leadership to the Commercial Pipeline team;

  • Evaluating project economics, preparing management presentations and presenting investment opportunities for updates and approvals;

  • Coordinating information with multi-discipline, cross-functional teams comprised of internal departments to produce scope of work, identifying project risks and producing cost estimates;

  • Gathering market intelligence on producer plans, competitive projects and other fundamentals affecting Plains; and

  • Developing forecasts, budgets, and guidance metrics for senior management.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Math or Economics;

  • 7+ years of experience in oil and gas industry, midstream experience preferred;

  • Possess significant experience and business contacts within the oil and gas industry;

  • Well-developed oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills;

  • Must be able to analyze all aspects of internal and external business arrangements (technical, financial, contractual, legal, operational and marketing);

  • Ability to effectively organize and motivate teams;

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and cooperatively lead a team to generate timely, accurate and efficient results;

  • Basic knowledge of pipeline and terminal operations, ideally including knowledge of Plains pipeline and/or NGL business;

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction;

  • Ability to multi-task and work on a wide variety of projects in a deadline-orientated environment;

  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions; and

  • Detail oriented with very strong analytical and problem solving skills.
