Staff Auditor - Plains All American Pipeline

Plains All American Pipeline, L.P., based in Houston, TX and the parent company of Plains Midstream Canada, created an Internal Audit department in 2002 to perform audits of their U.S. and Canadian operations.  Due to continued growth, we now seek to an additional auditor to join the Calgary based staff.

 

The Calgary Staff Auditor will conduct a variety of Calgary internal audit work, inclusive of Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 testing, operational audits, and consulting work.  The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.    

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct process and operational audits to evaluate risks and internal controls over key processes and/or ensure compliance with established procedures and guidelines;
  • Conduct SOX 404 compliance procedures, including preparation and updates of process documentation, control walkthroughs, control testing, and identification of control deficiencies and remediation measures;
  • Perform special projects and investigations;
  • Assist management with process improvement/re-engineering efforts; and
  • Assist the independent auditor with agreed upon procedures, such as conducting physical inventory observations at various Partnership locations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance or related Business degree;
  • 1-3 previous applicable audit experience;
  • CA or candidate preferred;
  • Highly motivated with well developed communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and MS Word/Excel computer skills;
  • Capable of working with multiple priorities and tasks in a fast paced environment;
  • Willing to go above and beyond to reach group goals and deadlines;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio, ACL, and Access is a plus; 
  • Travel is required to Calgary field locations and to Houston (estimated to be 25%).
