Senior Project Engineer (LPG)

Plains is currently looking for a Senior Project Engineer to fill a newly created role in our LPG Operations group. This is a critical position in the business unit and the successful candidate will have previous experience as a maintenance or process engineer at a gas plant, refinery or related petrochemical or LPG facility. Flexibility is key and the ability to adapt to new priorities and requirements is paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Manage expansion and maintenance capital projects from initial concept development and costing through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and start up;
- Monitor projects to ensure compliance with schedule and budget;
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work as assigned;
- Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Plains standards;
- Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants and stakeholders;
- Direct the activities of EPCM companies to develop and execute projects; and
- Act as a technical resource for Business Development, Corporate Development and Operations.
Qualifications:
- Must be P.Eng registered in the province of Alberta or equivalent jurisdiction;
- Possess a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree with 10 to 15 years of related industry experience;
- Familiar with the operation of equipment and processes used in LPG processing and terminals;
- Experience with managing process improvement and expansion projects from small to medium size ($100K to $20M) at a gas plant, refinery or related petrochemical or LPG facility;
- Advanced MS Office skills including MS Project;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are a must;
- Familiarity and experience with Management of Change Processes (MOC) including HAZOP and other PHA methodologies; and
- The ability to interact with multiple departments while working in a team environment.
