Electrical & Instrumentation Technician - Shafter, CA

Plains is currently looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician for our Plains LPG Services gas liquids and storage facility in Shafter, CA.  The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and be responsible for overseeing the daily E&I maintenance activities at the plant including processing units and associated equipment, tank storage facilities, and truck/rail unloading/loading facilities. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs, calibration, and maintenance on plant electrical and instrumentation equipment in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner;
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation, including PLC control systems;
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with both internal staff members and a contract workforce;
  • Interface closely with Operations to coordinate electrical and instrument repairs and calibrations;
  • Willingness to learn plant processes and operations;
  • Ability to track and order inventory to ensure reasonable levels of critical parts and components are in stock.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade XII education:
  • 10 years hands-on electrical and instrumentation background, with preference given to candidates with dual ticket experience;
  • Prior gas plant, refinery, or oilfield experience is required, preferably in an LGP facility;
  • Experience with PLC’s, SCADA, DCS, and other control systems;
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Word/Excel and e-mail;
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required;
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance;
  • Self starter with a “can do” attitude;
  • Team player with desire to work within a safety and goal orientated workforce;
  • Valid Driver’s License is a condition of employment.
